Imaginal Experiences

Non-discursive artistic material is commonly used for exploring the experiential richness of certain experiences.

Each artistic medium (painting, sculpture, music, cinematography, etc.) has its own “language” of expression. Objects of art are visual, tactile, auditory, kinetic texts–texts consisting of not a verbal language but a language nevertheless, and a language with its own grammar. Because artists are involved in giving shape to their lived experience, the products of art are, in a sense, lived experiences transformed into transcended configurations.
